Walney Island : not a bridge too far!
Barrow-in-Furness has always been a town devoted to creating and developing and is still widely recognised world wide as a major shipbuilding centre. Following this tradition since the 1980s are the devoted staff at Walney Central Nursery who take the child from as young as two months and introduce them to other children, new experiences and encourage their enquiries at the start of the crucial process designed to mould them ultimately in to effective happy adults. Before joining us though, you, the caring parent will have established a loving, secure environment and, indeed, we see your continued input as being essential in the further development of your offspring.
Under the friendly guidance of our qualified and experienced staff, children learn to establish lasting relationships with both other children and adults. As they progress, they appreciate the need for respect in the wider world, together with an understanding of cultural and sometimes physical differences and ethnic minorities. Registered with OFSTED and approved by the local authority we are supremely qualified to continue to expand on the excellent work started by the parent.
Situated as we are on Walney Island, a large island with around 15,000 inhabitants and linked to the mainland by bridge (certainly not a bridge too far!), Walney Central Nursery occupies the site of The Old Police House and this building being a huge converted bungalow is ideally safe for young children as they never run the risk of tripping up or falling down stairs. We encourage them in outside activities and this area too is perfect as the sections to both the front and to the rear are completely enclosed and secure. One way and another it is difficult to imagine a child being safer or indeed happier anywhere else. Parents past and present will testify to parents prospective that Walney Central Nursery provides an ideal first stepping stone across life’s sometimes turbulent waters.

"Twinkle, twinkle little star
Walney Central’s best by far
We work and play – and never cry!
Time for home! -we just ask why?"
