Established since the early 1980’s Walney Central Nursery on Walney Island excels in the role of moulding the characters of new generations in the Barrow-in-Furness region. We see ourselves as being pivotal in your child’s development. Our staff is highly experienced and qualified, some to NNEB and HNC level. Many are long established but the essential ingredient is the involvement at all times of you the parent.
The child can start with us at 2 years and 10 months. There is no minimum age but of course by the time that are five, they will progress to primary school and at Walney Central Nursery we have a well established procedure in place ensuring that eventually your child will transfer to the primary that best suits both their needs and your own geographic requirements. There is flexibility so far as sessions are concerned with children welcome to attend mornings only or, armed with a packed lunch, many enjoy the full day with us.
As part of a government initiative, there is funding available which can be claimed from the term after the child becomes three years of age. There is a further cost implication should parents, themselves, be in receipt of government funding. All queries including costs will be covered, either in our Prospectus or in discussion when you contact us at Walney Central Nursery.
As established already, we believe that parents are the child’s first educator and this role continues in partnership with Walney Central Nursery where every child learns to integrate with others of a similar age and with adults too. We have a definite no discrimination policy so your child will come in to contact with those from different cultural backgrounds and with those who may have physical disabilities. Walney Central Nursery is ideally suited to everyone, being totally secure inside and out and everything safely confined to ground floor bungalow level. Here, at Walney Central Nursery Nursery, we work towards promoting all six areas of the Early Learning Goals as set out by the QCA for the DFEE, under the National Foundation Stage Curriculum guidelines.
There is a definite strategy to our role at Walney Central Nursery where activities include growing flowers and vegetables, the latter being used by the children in preparation of home made soups. The children also become involved in the staging of our annual Christmas play and Easter Fair plus our regular Open Days. Your own involvement in these and other activities is essential and encouraged with enthusiasm by all at Walney Central Nursery.
